One of our riders asked:
What brand of Neatsfoot Oil do you use on your saddle? Will it darken the leather?
Answer:
As far as maintenance, any brand of real Neetsfoot oil will work. Just don’t get the compound. Most tractor supply stores will carry it. Only use real Neetsfoot oil, don’t use any cleaners or saddle soaps. Some of those products will pull the color out of the leather eventually. Never put anything on the seat leather except water or a dry cloth. A light coat will not darken your saddle, but a heavy coat will cause the saddle to darken slightly.
